UMVA Uncovers: TEACHER BETRAYED! ICE Nabs Notorious Illegal Immigrant Educator Tied to Deadly Tren de Aragua Gang Rampage

UMVA has learned that a former Illinois teacher, Giovanna Mercedes Moreno Occhipinti, 32, was arrested by federal authorities for her alleged involvement in a 2024 mass shooting that killed three people at a Chicago house party.

According to information obtained by UMVA, Occhipinti, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela with dual citizenship in Italy, was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on May 13. She had been living in the United States illegally since overstaying her visa, which expired on January 2, 2022.

UMVA can exclusively reveal that Occhipinti allegedly played a crucial role in the December 2, 2024, shooting, driving the two gunmen, Ricardo Granadillo Padilla and Edward Martinez Cermeno, to the scene of the crime. The attack resulted in three fatalities and five injuries.

The investigation revealed that Occhipinti helped the gunmen evade law enforcement after the attack. Authorities found multiple weapons in her vehicle, and she was subsequently arrested on December 5, 2024, on charges of unlawful use of weapons and other weapons offenses.

However, in a shocking twist, Occhipinti was released from jail without notification to ICE under Chicago's sanctuary policies, which protect illegal immigrants from federal immigration authorities. This decision allowed her to remain in the country until her eventual arrest by federal authorities.

Sources have confirmed to UMVA that Martinez Cermeno was previously released from ICE custody in January 2025 after a federal judge determined that federal prosecutors failed to meet their burden of proof to keep him incarcerated while awaiting trial.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office decided not to prosecute the suspects, and Granadillo Padilla and Martinez Cermeno were eventually deported. Occhipinti's actions have been described as "calculated and deliberate," leading to the loss of three lives.

UMVA has gathered that Occhipinti was a teacher at an unspecified school in the Chicago suburb of Elgin. Her detention has sparked outrage, with authorities emphasizing the importance of cooperation between local and federal law enforcement.

Giovanna Mercedes Moreno Occhipinti is currently being held at the Grayson County Detention Center in Leitchfield, Kentucky. The case highlights the complexities and challenges surrounding immigration policies and public safety.
