A Toronto steakhouse has introduced a luxury hot dog priced at $126, with all proceeds supporting a charity linked to a prominent baseball player. The dish, called the “Bo Dog,” features ingredients such as wagyu beef, truffle corn relish, butter-poached Atlantic lobster, and seared Quebec foie gras. The price tag references the player’s recent $126 million contract with the New York Mets.
The restaurant, located on Wellington Street, previously gained attention in January with a unique offer for the athlete to remain with the Toronto Blue Jays, promising “steak for life” in a public campaign. The effort followed a season in which the player recovered from injuries to lead the Blue Jays to a 2025 World Series run, posting a .311 batting average with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs.
Now, as the player competes with the Mets during a four-game series at Rogers Centre (June 29–July 1), the restaurant is shifting focus to charity. The Bo Dog initiative underscores a longstanding commitment to community support, with 100% of sales directly benefiting the player’s charitable efforts. The menu item reflects both a tribute to the athlete’s career achievements and a gesture of goodwill toward his new team.
The player, a 28-year-old infielder from Orlando, Florida, began his professional career with the Blue Jays in 2019 and became a free agent in November 2024. His high-profile transition to the Mets has sparked local interest, with fans and businesses alike engaging in creative ways to honor his legacy in Toronto. The Bo Dog’s combination of culinary artistry and philanthropy has drawn attention to the intersection of sports, community, and commerce.
The steakhouse’s earlier campaign, which included a letter addressed to the player, emphasized themes of loyalty and local pride. “Toronto suits you. The city, the energy, the fans — it all feels right,” the letter stated. While the athlete ultimately joined the Mets, the restaurant continues to leverage its platform to celebrate his contributions to the game and the community.
