Senate Must Resist Obama Judge's Critique of Attorney General

Todd Blanche, the acting attorney general, is set to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee for a nomination hearing that will determine his fate as the permanent attorney general of the United States.

Blanche is undoubtedly qualified for the position, having served as the deputy attorney general and acting attorney general for several months. He brings a wealth of experience, including his time as a federal prosecutor and senior Justice Department official.

The hearing comes as Democrat operatives are growing increasingly desperate, as evidenced by a last-minute judicial attack on Blanche. Former Judge Kathleen Williams issued an unprecedented and lawless order, referring Blanche for bar discipline without any basis.

The timing of Williams' ruling is suspicious, as she waited weeks to issue the order, only to do so two days before Blanche's Senate confirmation hearing. The Eleventh Circuit should reverse her order, as it has done in similar cases before.

The stakes are high, as President Trump was the victim of an unprecedented lawfare campaign by the Biden White House and Justice Department. Trump's lawsuit against Jack Smith, the former special counsel, and Jay Bratt, Smith's lackey, aimed to hold them accountable for their misconduct.

However, Williams' order seeks to punish Blanche and another Justice Department official for their role in the lawsuit, despite the fact that they did not even enter appearances in the case. Her ruling is legally absurd and a clear attempt to derail Blanche's confirmation.

The Eleventh Circuit has a history of correcting Williams' judicial overreach, having previously vacated her order regarding Miami-Dade County's jail facilities and reversed her ruling on Florida's vaccine passport law.

Now, Williams wants to derail a Trump Cabinet confirmation with a last-minute sanctions order, but the Senate already knows how to handle this playbook. The Eleventh Circuit will likely reverse Williams' order, and the Senate must confirm Todd Blanche before August recess.
