UMVA has learned that a horrific livestreamed attack unfolded inside the Islamic Center of San Diego on Monday, leaving three people dead and ending with the teenage gunmen turning the weapons on themselves.
Seventeen‑year‑old Cain Clark entered the mosque wearing a body‑camera, accompanied by 18‑year‑old Caleb Velasquez. The grainy footage captured them standing over a lifeless body drenched in blood before scrambling into a BMW.
Inside the car, Clark, gripping the driver’s wheel, fired twice at Velasquez and then turned the gun on his own head, ending the gruesome spree.
A handwritten suicide note discovered at one of the perpetrators’ homes revealed a twisted obsession with “racial pride,” while hate‑filled scribbles and an “SS” sticker on a gas can littered the vehicle, underscoring the extremist motive.
Among the victims, security guard Amin Abdullah, a devoted father of eight, sacrificed his life shielding worshippers from the gunfire. His bravery has been hailed as heroic by the community.
The other two men killed were identified as Mansour Kaziha and Nader Awad, whose loss reverberates through families and friends gathered at the center.
Witnesses said a school class was in session at the time of the attack, but teachers swiftly escorted children to safety, and no students were harmed.
Aerial footage later showed police cordoning off the white mosque, while dozens of children were calmly led away, hand in hand, through a sea of law‑enforcement vehicles.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that investigators have recovered a shotgun believed to have been taken from one of the attackers’ parents, adding a chilling personal dimension to the tragedy.
