Hunted Special Forces Vet on the Loose After Allegedly Killing Wife – Sheriff Drops Shocking Financial Bombshell

Hunted Special Forces Vet on the Loose After Allegedly Killing Wife – Sheriff Drops Shocking Financial Bombshell

The morning started like any other in the quiet town of Dover, Tennessee—until a gunshot shattered the silence and changed everything. Retired Army Special Forces veteran Craig Berry allegedly turned a domestic argument into a bloodbath, firing at his wife as she tried to flee for her life.

Berry's wife barely made it out of their home, slamming her car into gear and speeding away. But her husband wasn't done. He chased her, crashing his own vehicle so violently that it was left completely destroyed. She drove on, wounded, until help arrived.

Sheriff Frankie Gray described her injuries as "life-threatening." Yet she survived, was rushed to the hospital, and has since been released. She spoke with investigators multiple times, revealing fragments of a marriage teetering on the edge—a possible "financial situation," the sheriff hinted, but nothing that could explain this level of violence.

One family member managed to talk to Berry right after the shooting. That conversation ended with Berry allegedly smashing his phone to pieces. Now the former Green Beret—trained in survival, combat medicine, and stealth—has vanished into the Tennessee wilderness.

The search is urgent, but Gray doesn't believe Berry will target anyone else. Still, he warns residents: "Lock all your doors." Berry might try to steal a car. He's an excellent swimmer, in peak physical shape, and versed in evasion tactics honed over decades of service.

Berry served 24 years in the Army as an infantryman and Special Forces medical sergeant. He deployed to Iraq four times between 2003 and 2014, leaving as a sergeant first class. That training is now being used against the very people trying to find him.

Troopers from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, deputies from Stewart County, and agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Marshals Service are combing dense woods. Helicopters buzz overhead. A reward is offered for information leading to his capture. Berry is now on the state's "Most Wanted" list.

The search, Gray admits, will be lengthy. He won't even rule out the possibility that the former Special Forces veteran is already dead. Berry's wife—a schoolteacher in the local district—is now recovering in private, her students and colleagues left shaken. The school district released a statement: the incident didn't happen on school grounds, and there is no ongoing threat. But the scars of that morning will linger far longer than any manhunt.
