To launch the tool, open the search box on the taskbar, type the name of the command interface, and select “Run as Administrator.” Both Command Prompt and PowerShell can be used for the procedure.

Enter the command netsh wlan show wlanreport and press Enter. The system creates an HTML file named wlan-report-latest.html in the hidden directory C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WlanReport.

Copy the full path, paste it into the search bar, and press Enter to open the file in the default web browser. If the folder remains invisible, adjust File Explorer’s settings to display hidden items before navigating manually.

The report’s header presents a timeline of Wi‑Fi events covering the previous 48 hours, with colored symbols indicating status—such as a black X on red for errors or an N for lost connections.

Below the timeline, the Report Info section records the generation date and the exact reporting period, establishing a clear temporal context for the data.

The General System Info segment lists hardware specifications, BIOS version, and the Windows build, which can be valuable when assessing compatibility concerns.

The Network Adapters section enumerates all installed adapters, including physical, virtual, VPN, and Bluetooth interfaces, offering insight into the devices handling network traffic.

WLAN-Report Summary

Script Output aggregates results from built‑in troubleshooting commands; for example, ipconfig /all details the current configuration of each adapter, while netsh wlan show all displays driver information and a history of accessed Wi‑Fi networks.

The Summary area consolidates successful and failed connection attempts, providing explicit reasons for any disconnections, thereby streamlining the troubleshooting process.

Finally, the Wireless Sessions portion records each connection’s method, SSID, associated event IDs, and descriptive notes, delivering a complete picture of the wireless session lifecycle.
