Apple's AI is COLLAPSING—and It's NOT Siri's Fault!

The world of artificial intelligence feels less like a technological frontier and more like watching a toddler with a penchant for chaos. Just when you think you can turn away for a moment, it’s inevitably jammed something dangerous into its mouth, demanding immediate attention. And right now, that toddler is causing Apple a world of legal trouble.

Apple is currently battling not one, but two AI-related lawsuits, and the details are… unsettling. The first involves a company called Ex-Human – yes, really – and their now-removed app, Botify AI. Investigations revealed chatbots within the app were offering disturbingly inappropriate responses, even suggesting age-of-consent laws were meant to be broken. The app also allowed the creation of non-consensual, revealing images of real people.

The irony is thick. Apple faces criticism for removing this app while simultaneously allowing other platforms known for generating similar questionable content to remain available. It begs the question: is there a “billionaire exception” to Apple’s App Store policies? Apparently, deep pockets can buy a level of leniency others don’t receive.

But the trouble doesn’t stop there. While being accused of being *too* lenient with AI, Apple is also being sued for being *not* careful enough. Three YouTube channels are alleging Apple illegally scraped millions of copyrighted videos to train its AI models, effectively stealing their work. It’s a familiar story for creators whose content is being devoured by AI without compensation.

The sheer contradiction is baffling. Apple is simultaneously being penalized for allowing potentially harmful AI and for utilizing AI in a way that infringes on copyright. It’s a no-win scenario, fueled by a reckless rush to integrate AI into everything, regardless of the ethical or legal consequences.

A simple solution exists, yet seems stubbornly ignored. Apple could proactively license the content used to train its models, compensating creators for their work. Instead, the approach seems to be one of hoping the problem simply goes away. This isn’t just about money; it’s about respecting intellectual property and establishing a sustainable model for AI development.

On the App Store front, consistent application of existing rules would be a start. If Apple wants to project an image of safety and security, it needs to enforce those standards universally, not selectively based on the wealth or influence of the app developer. Allowing alternative app stores could also shift the burden of regulation, but that requires a willingness to relinquish control.

Ultimately, these cases expose a fundamental flaw in the current AI landscape. The relentless pursuit of AI isn’t driven by a genuine need for progress, but by a desire to exponentially increase the wealth of a select few. The rules, it seems, are only meant to apply to everyone else. The question now is whether anyone will step up to enforce them.

The core issue isn’t the technology itself, but the unchecked ambition driving its development. AI has potential, but it shouldn’t be pursued at any cost. A more measured, ethical approach is desperately needed, one that prioritizes fairness, respect, and accountability over sheer speed and profit.
