Fiber broadband and technology solutions provider Converge ICT Solutions, Inc. has partnered with the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) to support workforce upskilling and artificial intelligence (AI) readiness in the country's information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) sector.
The partnership follows Converge's membership in IBPAP, an industry association representing more than 400 member companies. Converge's Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony H. Uy emphasized the need for workers to be equipped with the skills necessary to adapt to AI and other emerging technologies.
Uy noted that the industry must level up the skills of its workers to capture the opportunities presented by the AI boom. He added that Converge's membership in IBPAP presents a prime opportunity for possible collaboration as AI adoption accelerates.
IBPAP collaborates with six industry associations, including the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc., Global Capability Center Philippines, and the Philippine Software Industry Association. The Philippine IT-BPM industry is a significant contributor to the country's economy, employing 1.9 million workers and generating $40 billion in export revenues, accounting for more than 8% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) last year.
