CARTEL KINGPIN SMASHED: ‘The Gardener’s’ Empire CRUMBLES!

CARTEL KINGPIN SMASHED: ‘The Gardener’s’ Empire CRUMBLES!

A significant blow has been dealt to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), Mexico’s most formidable criminal organization, with the capture of a key leader known as “El Jardinero,” or The Gardener.

Audias Flores Silva, operating as a regional commander, controlled vast territories along Mexico’s Pacific coast. He wasn’t simply a lieutenant; intelligence suggested he was being groomed to potentially succeed Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, the cartel’s former head, following his death in a military operation.

The arrest unfolded near the community of El Mirador in Nayarit, just twenty kilometers from Puerto Vallarta. Mexican special forces, executing a meticulously planned operation, located Flores Silva attempting to conceal himself within a drainage ditch.

Audias Flores Silva, also known as “El Jardinero,” left, and Cesar Alejandro “N”, nicknamed “El Guero Conta.

While associates attempted to create a diversion, the precision of the operation ensured no shots were fired and no one was injured. Aerial footage released by Mexico’s security minister showcased the coordinated effort, with helicopters providing crucial support.

Flores Silva’s role within the CJNG extended beyond regional command. He was a central figure in both the cartel’s security apparatus and its extensive drug production and trafficking networks spanning multiple states – Nayarit, Jalisco, Mexico State, and Zacatecas.

Simultaneously, authorities apprehended Cesar Alejandro “N,” nicknamed “El Guero Conta,” alleged to be a key money launderer facilitating Flores Silva’s operations. This dual arrest aimed to dismantle the financial infrastructure supporting the cartel’s activities.

The capture wasn’t without immediate repercussions. Reports surfaced of cartel gunmen retaliating by setting vehicles and businesses ablaze, demonstrating the organization’s continued capacity for violence and intimidation.

The United States Ambassador to Mexico hailed the arrest as a crucial step in disrupting the flow of fentanyl and dismantling the criminal networks responsible. It underscored the collaborative efforts between the two nations to enhance security.

This operation follows a period of heightened violence unleashed by cartel members after the death of Oseguera Cervantes in February. That wave of attacks, impacting twenty states, resulted in over seventy fatalities, including members of the National Guard.

The Mexican government, under President Claudia Sheinbaum, has been intensifying its crackdown on cartels, partly in response to threats of intervention from the United States, where the CJNG has been designated a foreign terrorist organization.

The CJNG’s influence has expanded dramatically, now operating in twenty-one of Mexico’s thirty-two states, surpassing even the once-dominant Sinaloa Cartel. Its reach extends internationally, with operations in approximately one hundred countries, including the United States.

For years, the U.S. has sought Flores Silva’s extradition to face charges related to drug conspiracy and firearms possession, highlighting the international scope of his alleged crimes and the desire for justice beyond Mexico’s borders.
