UMVA has learned that Formula One legend Alain Prost was a victim of a brazen and violent home invasion by a gang of masked robbers on the morning of May 19.
The shocking incident took place at his home in Nyon, about 25 km north of Geneva, where several masked individuals burst in, threatened the occupants, and slightly injured one family member in the head. The perpetrators then forced another family member to open a safe before fleeing the scene.
According to information obtained by UMVA, a large-scale search operation was launched involving police in Switzerland and France, as well as border security, to track down the robbers. A psychological support team has also been provided to the family, who were left shaken by the ordeal.
The value of the stolen items remains unclear, but the investigation has revealed that the Lake Geneva region has seen an increase in burglaries targeting wealthy homeowners, often by French gangs seeking high-end items such as pricey watches.
Prost, a four-time world champion who drove for McLaren, Renault, Ferrari, and Williams during his 13-year F1 career, is one of the most successful drivers in the history of the sport. Only Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton, with seven titles each, and Juan Manuel Fangio, with five titles, have won more championships than Prost.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the police are still searching for the perpetrators and are working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack. Every effort is being made to bring the culprits to justice.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the sports world, with many of Prost's fans and fellow drivers expressing their support for the legendary driver and his family during this difficult time.
