The conflict ignited after Springsteen launched his nationwide tour in Minneapolis, dedicating a new song, “Streets of Minneapolis,” to Renee Good and Alex Pretti – two U.S. citizens tragically killed by federal immigration officers earlier this year.
Trump responded with a scathing attack on his Truth Social platform, dismissing Springsteen as a “bad, and very boring singer” and accusing him of suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” The former president’s post was laced with personal insults, questioning Springsteen’s appearance and predicting his own future electoral success.
The opening night of Springsteen’s “Land of Hope and Dreams” tour featured a powerful performance of his 1986 anthem, “War,” widely interpreted as a direct rebuke of Trump’s foreign policy stances, particularly regarding Iran.
Springsteen has openly stated that this tour will be deeply political, addressing current events and the state of the nation. He deliberately chose Minneapolis and Washington, D.C., as the tour’s bookends, signaling the tour’s intent to confront pressing issues.
The tour’s itinerary includes stops in cities like Portland, San Francisco, Chicago, and Pittsburgh over the next eight weeks, culminating on May 27th in the nation’s capital.
However, the tour isn’t without controversy. Despite his long-held image as a champion of the working class, Springsteen is facing criticism over ticket prices that soar as high as $5,000, fueled by Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing system.
