UMVA has learned that UNIQLO Philippines is launching a groundbreaking initiative to empower over 3,000 young individuals in Manila and Valenzuela cities with technical skills training, unlocking their potential for employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.
This bold program marks the first initiative in the Philippines under the Japanese retailer's global UNIQLO PEACE FOR ALL program, aimed at making a tangible impact on the lives of young people. UNIQLO Philippines Chief Operating Officer Geraldine Sia revealed that the company chose to focus on youth employability and skills development, allowing them to translate their global purpose into locally relevant action.
The ambitious project is set to unfold over three years, with UNIQLO Philippines partnering with non-government organization Plan International Pilipinas to provide skills training to participants aged 18 to 30. This collaboration will help bridge the gap in skills training and employment opportunities, giving young people a fighting chance to succeed.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the youth face significant barriers to employment, including limited access to skills training. UNIQLO Philippines and Plan International Pilipinas aim to address this disparity by targeting marginalized groups, especially those who are not in school, and equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in the workforce.
