A dramatic police chase on the Gardiner Expressway earlier this year has resulted in no charges being filed against a Toronto cop after a 21-year-old suspect jumped off the roadway while fleeing arrest.
Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit says police received reports of two carjackings, one involvinga Rolls Royce stolen by three men, on June 16, 2025.
“A BMW rolled up on the guy and one of the carjackers pointed his gun at him and said to hand over the car,” a police source told theToronto Sunat the time.
The man, understanding that it’s not worth being shot to try to keep your treasured ride, complied.
“He threw the assailants his keys,” the police source said.
The men fled the Shops At Don Mills shopping area in the Rolls Royce and a BMW X5 and drove along the Don Valley Parkway until coming to a stop on the Gardiner in a police blockade.
The BMW driver fled on foot and officers chased him.
