Man sought for break-and-enter at Whitby restaurant
Investigators need help identifying this man who allegedly broke into Los Cabos Cantina and Grill in Whitby and tried to steal alcohol on Aug. 11, 2025.

The hunt is on for an unidentified man who broke into a Whitby restaurant and tried to steal alcohol over the summer.

Investigators have now released an image of the suspected booze bandit, hoping someone will recognize him and come forward.

Durham Regional Police said a man attended Los Cabos Cantina and Grill at 1009 Dundas St. E. – east of Garden St. – just after 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 11.

“The male smashed a window to gain entry to the restaurant before attempting to pry open a fridge containing alcohol,” police said in a statement released Wednesday.

Police said the man also tried to access the management office, but he took off when the security alarm was activated.

Investigators have released a security camera image of a suspect who is described as white and 45 to 55 years old with a medium build and long, dark hair.

The suspect was wearing a dark-coloured hoodie and dark-coloured pants at the time.

Anyone with cellphone, dashcam, surveillance footage or information about this incident is urged to call police at 1-888-579-1520, Ext. 5858, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
