
A teenage boy was seriously injured in a crash as police said he and his accomplices fled the scene of a home invasion in Vaughan early Wednesday.
York Regional Police say officers were called to a residential neighbourhood near Pine Valley Dr. and Teston Rd. around 4:15 a.m.
By the time officers arrived at the house, three of the home invaders had fled in the Hyundai pickup truck they arrived in and a fourth bandit had driven off in avehicle stolenfrom the residence.
Soon after, police said the pickup was involved in a single-vehicle collision near Teston Rd. and Cityview Blvd. – about 4 km away, near Hwy. 400.
Youth suffered serious leg injury
A male youth who had been driving the pickup suffered a serious leg injury, police said, adding the other two occupants of the Hyundai took off on foot.
The fourth home invader fled in the stolen vehicle. Police did not immediately reveal the make and model of the stolen vehicle.
Officers searched the area with help from the K9 Unit but were unable to find the other home invaders.
The teenage driver of the Hyundai – who can’t be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act – was arrested, but police have yet to reveal what charges he faces.

The investigation is ongoing.
Duty Insp. Richard Gaudet told reporters at the scene on Wednesday that none of the occupants of the residence were injured during the home invasion.
“Being woken up in the middle of the night, being victims of a home invasion, they’re obviously very shaken,” he said.
