More charges laid for flying drones during Blue Jays playoff games
The Blue Jays stand on the field for the national anthem prior to playing the Seattle Mariners in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series at Rogers Centre on Oct. 13, 2025 in Toronto.

Toronto Police have a message for drone enthusiasts – keep your remote-controlled aircraft away from the skies above and near Rogers Centre.

Police announced Saturday that eight charges have been laid against seven individuals for illegally flying drones, including micro-drones weighing less than 249 grams, over the downtown stadium during the Toronto Blue Jays’ postseason games against the Seattle Mariners.

Earlier this month, police accused two people ofillegally operating drones over Rogers Centreduring Blue Jays playoff games against the New York Yankees on back-to-back days.

Cops said, during games last Sunday and Monday, the Emergency Management and Public Order Unit used specialized drone detection technology to identify and intercept seven unauthorized flights over and around Rogers Centre, citing Canadian Aviation Regulations.

Fines were also issued for violating the federally designated no-fly zone, police said, as well as other legislation directly related to drone operations at advertised events.

Police have not released the names of the individuals charged and fined.

“The Toronto Police Service is reminding the public to leave your drone at home! Rogers Centre is a no-drone zone during all Blue Jays postseason games,” they said.

Cops reminded the public that all drone operators are responsible for knowing and following federal aviation rules and regulations and directed them toTransport Canada’s website.
