Finding budget laptops that I’d actually recommend for people is becoming a struggle, what with prices going up on everything and electronics in particular. But today, Best Buy comes to the rescue witha Dell Inspiron laptop that’s almost half off its retail price. Now available for just $449.99, you can get this 14-inch model with a Snapdragon processor and 16GB of RAM for $350 off the usual $799.99!
The latest version of the Inspiron 14 isn’t exactly dazzling, even by the standards of affordable designs. But with that roomy memory, adequately spacious 512GB of storage, and a monster battery life thanks to that Snapdragon X processor, it’s more than servicable for anyone who just needs a decent laptop and not anything fancy. Mark Knapp praised its 1200p display and capable keyboardin his PCWorld review of it, though he noted that there are far more powerful options out there.
Arm-based Snapdragon CPUs aren’t great for gaming, but with 17 hours of battery life (8 hours in a torture test) and a middling 3.3-pound weight, it’s great for a basic machine that’s easy to bring along anywhere. You might want to pack a USB hub, though, since two USB4 ports and a single microSD card slot aren’t great in terms of connectivity. At least it’s got a handy Windows Hello webcam for easy face unlock.
