Pop star claims they ‘time travelled’ to see David Bowie perform in the 1970s

Janelle Monáehas claimed that she time-travelled to the 1970s to watchDavid Bowieperform.


The Make Me Feel singer, 39, is known for making out-there comments, but may have pushed the envelope one step further with a time travel revelation.


Janelle,who is non-binary and uses she/they pronouns, revealed that they had watched Bowie perform his 1972 album from backstage in the 70s, despite being born in 1985.


‘I think when I saw David Bowie,’ they said to singer Lucy Dacus in an interview withRolling Stoneas they discussed why they wanted to pursue a music career.


‘I travelled back into the 1970s and I saw him do Ziggy Stardust And TheSpidersFrom Mars, and it was incredible.

‘Yeah, I was backstage, and I was like “This is what I want to do.”


‘And so I jetted back to the 2000s and I was like “I can have the musical, make the music, create the lyrics, and create community around transformation and being queer and not even just in sexuality but in how we see the world”.’


The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars was released in 1972 and featured hits including Starman, Ziggy Stardust, and Rock and Roll Suicide.


Fans loved this bonkers revelation from the star and took tosocial mediato praise the hilarious interview moment.


‘Janelle is on a totally different level than is mere mortals. I believe every word she said,’ said kganancial.


‘It’s always “believe women” until Janelle Monae tells you she travelled back to the 1970s to see David Bowie perform backstage,’ joked acourtofthornsandashole.

Fans also couldn’t cope with Lucy’s reaction as she struggled to find the right reaction to Janelle’s story.

The singer and actor, known forHidden Figures,Moonlight, andGlass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, has claimed to be a time traveller for years.


In 2022 the artist toldRock Cellar: ‘I identify as being timeless. Timeless, timeless. You know? I think that my cells respond to feeling and believing and knowing, but I’m timeless. I’m a time traveller. I move through space. I move through time.


‘What is time, actually? It’s whatever we say it is. It’s wherever we say it is. What agreement we have in whatever community we’re in.’
