Foo Fighters announce new stadium tour launching in Toronto

Foo Fighters announce new stadium tour launching in Toronto
Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters looks out towards fans during a concert at the Verdun Auditorium in the Montreal area, July 10, 2023.

The Foo Fighters will kick off a 12-city North American tour next summer in Toronto with their new drummer following the 2022 death of Taylor Hawkins.

The band announced the tour details on Thursday, with the launch set for Aug. 4 at Rogers Stadium, the new venue in Toronto, where they’ve long had a devoted fan base.

This is the Foo Fighters’ first stadium tour since the massive 2023-24 Everything or Nothing at All run that sold out football and baseball fields and featured early drumming replacement Josh Freese. Last month, Ilan Rubin made his official debut on drums with the band.

The other Canadian dates are Sept. 15 in Regina at Mosaic Stadium, Sept. 17 in Edmonton at Commonwealth Stadium, and Sept. 20 in Vancouver at BC Place.

Queens of the Stone Age will be the support on all the announced dates except Sept. 12 in Fargo, Ind.

Tickets for the Toronto show will go on sale on Oct. 31 atlivenation.comat 10 a.m. ET. More information can be found atfoofighters.com.

The Foos released a new single, Asking For a Friend, on Thursday in making the announcement, which they’d teased in the lead-up with advertising at Toronto’s Union Station.

In a lengthy post, Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl wrote that “‘Asking for a Friend’ is a song for those who have waited patiently in the cold, relying on hope and faith for their horizon to appear. Searching for ‘proof’ when hanging by a wish until the sun shines again.

“Since our return to the stage in San Luis Obispo five weeks ago, we have been reminded of why we love and are forever devoted to doing this Foo Fighters thing. From reuniting as a band and staring at a list of 30 years worth of songs to brush off, to reimagining versions with the incredible blessing of the one and only Ilan Rubin behind the drums, to reconnecting with our amazing fans and blasting them with everything we’ve got (no matter the size of the venue) because we would not be here without them, we have the most solid core.”
