The man who everyone in theCelebrity Traitorscast universally admired, respected and hailed as a genius has sadly met his dreaded end.

Sir Stephen Fry, the gallant knight who was a Faithful to the bitter end, was bumped off during Thursday night’s roundtable.

His banishment has sent the remaining Faithfuls into a state of despair. How could they get the vote so terribly wrongyet again? We’re now six episodes deep and no Traitors have been caught – equalling a show record.

However, as devastating asSir Stephen’sdemise is, I believe that it could turn the tide of theBBC show.

It’s been so much fun to watch the Traitors get up to their dastardly fun – especially Cat Burns andAlan Carr, who do a brilliant job of playing innocent (despite Alan’s constant giveaways about his true identity).

But, enough is enough. It’s time for theFaithfulsto snare some Traitors.

After Mark Bonnar’s banishment, Joe Wilkinson’s murder and Sir Stephen’s departure in the latest episode, there are now nine celebrities left.

That gives theFaithfulsa one in three chance of being successful… and the most recent banishment could finally be the catalyst they need.

Several of the contestants, led by rugby star Joe Marler, have been following the ‘big dog theory’ – that between Sir Stephen andJonathan Ross, one of them is playing a game of treachery. So surely that means that the writing is on the wall forWossy?

He hasn’t been getting away scot-free in recent episodes. Both Joe and Lucy Beaumont voted for him at the roundtable, while Nick Mohammed remains adamant that he’s a Traitor (even if he foolishly ended up voting for Sir Stephen instead).

For weeks, many people have suspected that Jonathan’s end could be coming, and then he’s managed to surpass expectations by surviving.

Nonetheless, things feel different now. Sir Stephen had provided Jonathan with some protection to hide behind. Now, the last remaining ‘Big Dog’ is more exposed than ever.

Nonetheless, if the chatshow host isn’t the first Traitor to go, then Alan might have signed his death sentence after his glaring blunder at the roundtable.

I’ll be glad to admit that I was wrong earlier this week when I predicted that Cat was doomed, even if Sir Stephen briefly turned the spotlight on her at the roundtable, asking why she’s so tired during the day, and bringing up the fact that the Traitors must get less sleep.

‘I do have autism and ADHD, so when I’m around people a lot, it takes a lot more effort to really speak. Sometimes I just need time away,’ Cat explained, eluding suspicion once again.

On the Alan front, it’s been astonishing to witness how many times he can make it blatantly obvious that he’s a Traitor without any of the Faithfuls catching on.

During the roundtable, Joe said to Alan: ‘They won’t murder you tonight,’ to which the comedian, looking taken aback, replied: ‘What?’

‘You’ve got a shield,’ Joe answered, reminding Alan of the shield that he won during the mission earlier in the day with his team, which protected him from murder.

‘Oh yeah! Got a shield!’ Alan squealed, clearly hoping that he could pass his accidental slip-up off as him simply being ditsy. But alas, finally, the Faithfuls aren’t brushing obvious clues under the carpet anymore.

During a private chat later on in the castle, Joe brought up to Lucy, Nick and Cat that Alan forgot he had a shield.

‘Because it’s not important to him,’ Lucy replied. ‘You don’t forget you’ve got a shield!’

I don’t know about you, but to me, it feels inevitable that the Traitors’ luck is ultimately running out.

But then again, a key lesson to learn fromThe Traitorsis that any time you think that you have the game all figured out, you most-likely don’t. The mind games!

Perhaps Jonathan will finally be rooted out at the next roundtable, now that Sir Stephen has been confirmed to the group as a Faithful? Or, maybe Alan will go next because of his fatal slip-up?

I want to join in the clamour of the Faithfuls as they celebrate catching a Traitor after their continuous stream of failures. (Even if I’m rooting for Cat to win). They’ve been so close for so long – their frustrations need to pay off with a victory.

Should they be successful, the next question will be who out of the Faithfuls could be recruited as a Traitor if a vacancy opens up.

Before we get to that point, first we are forced to wait almost a week to find out who out of Lucy, Nick andKate Garrawayhas been killed, as one of them is murdered by the Traitors face to face.

As usual, Celebrity Traitors knows how to keep us on the edge of our seats.

Celebrity Traitors returns on Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One, and is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
