Ruben Amorimhas claimed thatManchester United’s performance in the defeat toArsenalwas better than when they beatLiverpoolandBrighton.
The Red Devils suffered a 1-0 home loss to Arsenal in their first match of the 2025-26 campaign but have turned their form around in recent weeks.
United have won their last three games in a row – beating Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton to surge into thePremier Leaguetop four.
Speaking after Saturday’s 4-2 win over Brighton, Amorim said: ‘I think the best game we did this season was against Arsenal, the first one.’
The United boss added: ‘[But] it was a more complete performance [against Brighton than Liverpool].

‘You can say whatever you want about Liverpool, but they didn’t deserve to lose. We deserved to win but they didn’t deserve to lose.
‘I think today [against Brighton], we did a little bit of everything. We had the ball.
‘We created chances, we defended high [up the pitch] and low [down the pitch]. I liked [the performance] more today than last weekend.’
Meanwhile, Amorim has revealed that United defenderLuke Shawis struggling with a ‘virus’.
Shaw lasted for 65 minutes against Brighton before he was replaced byAyden Heaven.
[PIC]Amorim, though, has insisted that Shaw will be fully fit for United’s next match against Nottingham Forest on November 1.
‘[Luke Shaw] had a virus during the week,’ Amorim said. ‘He struggled a little in the game. But he’s going to be ready for the next one.’
Amorim has also described Bryan Mbeumo as a ‘machine’ after the summer signing scored twice in the victory over Brighton.
”He’s a working machine,’ Amorim added. ‘He’s so good in transitions. He’s improving in the final third.
‘The connection with Amad Diallo. It’s really hard to beat these two guys, because they change positions, they are fast and so good in one-vs-ones.’
Mbeumo told Sky Sports: ‘I enjoy it a lot here. It hasn’t been easy at the start.
‘It’s a new environment, a new expectation but I think everything is going the right way [now].
‘The work we put in, the effort, the togetherness we give on the pitch is key and after we try to stick to the plan and we try to play as best as possible.’
