Ontario injecting $1 billion boost into home care funding

Ontario injecting $1 billion boost into home care funding
Ontario Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy stands in the house as he delivers the Ontario budget at the Queen's Park Legislature in Toronto, on May 15, 2025.

Ontario Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy has announced that as part of the upcoming fall economic statement, the province will be increasing home care funding by $1 billion over three years.

Bethlenfalvy says boosting home care services will free up hospital beds and ensure people can get care in the right place.

He says it amounts to an eight per cent funding increase.

In addition to the $982 million over three years, the government is also spending $170 million over the same time frame to expand a Hospital to Home program that helps patients transition home after a hospital stay.

The funding is on top of $2 billion over three years for home care that the government announced last year.

The government says the funding has helped to increase the number of patients accessing home care by 18 per cent in the past two years.
