A surge of remembrance swept across the Philippines as 1.51 million passengers navigated the nation’s major ports between October 27th and November 3rd, driven by the deeply held traditions of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day.
This year’s observance saw families undertaking journeys to honor loved ones, a poignant annual pilgrimage that underscores the cultural significance of these days. Authorities anticipated the flow to continue, projecting a total of 2.2 million passengers by November 5th.
While this figure represents a substantial 14.58% increase compared to the 1.92 million recorded during the same period last year, it remains slightly below pre-pandemic levels of 2.51 million, a lingering echo of recent global disruptions.
The broader trend reveals a consistent rebound in passenger traffic, with a 13.74% increase recorded during the second quarter of the year, reaching 26 million passengers compared to 22.86 million the previous year.
This upward momentum continued through the first half of the year, with passenger volume climbing 8.61% to 45.3 million between January and June, a significant jump from the 41.71 million recorded in the same timeframe last year.
Looking ahead, projections indicate a total of 85.41 million passengers are expected to pass through the ports by year’s end, surpassing initial targets by an impressive 9.5%, signaling a robust recovery and a nation on the move.
