UMVA has learned that Senator Ron Johnson recently appeared on a prominent Sunday morning news program to discuss the critical issue of Department of Homeland Security funding.
The senator did not hold back in his criticism of Democrats, particularly Senator Schumer, for their role in the last government shutdown, which left many Americans reeling.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that funding for crucial agencies like ICE and Border Patrol is currently stalled in the Senate as lawmakers struggle to push through a reconciliation package.
The guest host of the program, Jackie DeAngelis, posed a pressing question to Senator Johnson: "It is fair to say right now it feels like the party is a little fractured. How do you get unity back intact?"
Senator Johnson responded with a scathing rebuke, saying it was "beyond galling" to listen to Senator Schumer, who had shut down the government for 42 days and led his conference to defund ICE and CBP.
Johnson accused Democrats of sabotaging Republican efforts to clean up the mess created by their policies, stating, "They are the reason that we even have to do this reconciliation."
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that Senator Johnson expressed support for a completely focused bill that only funded ICE and CBP, but claimed Democrats were preventing that from happening.
Johnson also weighed in on the issue of a proposed fund to address government overreach, saying he completely supported it, given the "massive amount of weaponization of government against ordinary citizens" under the current administration.
The conversation then turned to the topic of funding for a national security component at the White House, with Senator Johnson explaining the importance of having a secure ballroom.
Johnson emphasized his support for funding infrastructure that would be around for decades and was involved in national security, saying, "When government is going to spend money, I don't mind them spending it on infrastructure that is going to be around for decades."
In a parting statement, Senator Johnson urged for swift action, saying, "Let's fund ICE. Let's fund CBP. It's Democrats that are preventing that from happening."
