An Illinois woman is facing sexual assault charges after she allegedly had a baby with her daughter’s 14-year-old date to a school dance.
Robyn Polston, 43, was detained on Nov. 3 following accusations that she had a baby in January with her teen daughter’s friend.
The Washington Police Department received a tip about the relationship after she gave birth.
Soon after, investigators obtained a copy of the baby’s birth certificate, which showed Polston had given the newborn the exact middle and last name as the alleged victim, according to a probable cause affidavit, per People .
Polston told investigators the father was “a man in his 20s named Brian,” but she claimed he was long gone before she had given birth.
However, DNA samples from the mother, the alleged victim and the baby confirmed the pair are the infant’s parents.
During the probe, authorities discovered Polston had chaperoned a school dance that her daughter and the boy attended together in May 2023.
The boy and his family moved away from the area shortly after the dance, but he returned in April and June of 2024 to visit a “friend,” then permanently moved back in August 2024 to live with the family of said “friend,” the affidavit stated.
The April visit lines up with the baby’s birth.
Investigators also discovered “a large number of sexually explicit images and videos” of Polston and the boy on the alleged victim’s cellphone, according to the court doc.
Cassandra Mullikin, the Assistant State’s Attorney for Tazewell County, reviewed the smut and determined Polston was responsible for taking the pictures, the publication reported.
Polston faces two counts of criminal sexual assault with a victim between the ages of 13 and 17, as well as two counts of possession of child pornography, according to a court filing.
