GOLDIN FOUND: Hamas Finally Breaks – After 10 Years of Hell!

After 4,118 days of agonizing uncertainty, the remains believed to be Israeli soldier Hadar Goldin are finally returning home. The news, delivered Sunday by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, marks a heartbreaking yet significant moment after years of relentless searching and a family’s unwavering hope.

Goldin, a lieutenant in the Givati Brigade, fell in battle on August 1, 2014 – a mere two hours after a fragile 72-hour ceasefire was declared, ending that year’s devastating conflict between Israel and Hamas. His body was immediately taken, becoming a painful symbol of the war’s unresolved grief and a focal point for negotiations.

Hamas announced the discovery of remains within a tunnel in Rafah, Gaza’s southernmost city, on Saturday. The transfer, facilitated by the Red Cross within the Gaza Strip, involved a coffin handed over to Israeli authorities Sunday afternoon. A solemn identification process now begins, a final, crucial step before the Goldin family receives definitive confirmation.

For eleven years, Goldin’s parents led a tireless campaign, refusing to let their son be forgotten. Their mantra – “Those who abandon the dead will abandon the wounded and the living” – resonated throughout Israel, becoming a powerful plea for national responsibility and a commitment to bringing soldiers home.

Initial reports suggested Goldin had been kidnapped and held captive. However, evidence recovered from the tunnel – a blood-soaked shirt, prayer fringes – ultimately revealed the tragic truth: he had been killed in action. Despite this grim realization, the search for his remains continued, fueled by a promise to honor his sacrifice.

This return is part of a larger, U.S.-brokered peace deal where Hamas is expected to return the remains of all hostages taken, most during the horrific attacks of October 7, 2023. The exchange has seen Hamas release the remains of 23 hostages, with Israel responding by releasing the remains of 15 Palestinians for each one returned.

The October 7th attacks, which ignited the current conflict, resulted in the deaths of 1,200 people in Israel, the vast majority civilians, and the abduction of 251 individuals. This latest development follows the earlier retrieval of another Israeli soldier’s body, also killed during the 2014 war, offering a small measure of closure amidst ongoing turmoil.

The coming days will be filled with profound emotion as the Goldin family awaits official confirmation and prepares to finally lay their son to rest. It is a moment of immense sorrow, but also a testament to the enduring power of family, the weight of national obligation, and the long, arduous path towards peace.
