After 23 years, a legendary sound is returning to stages across Canada. Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman are uniting once more, not as Bachman-Cummings, but as The Guess Who – a name synonymous with a generation of rock and roll.
This isn’t just a tour; it’s the culmination of a decades-long struggle. A hard-fought battle to reclaim a musical identity, a name etched into the hearts of millions. The 2026 tour kicks off May 26th in Moncton, New Brunswick, and promises a journey through a remarkable catalog of hits.
“Randy and I are thrilled that our songs have never gone away,” Cummings shared, a sentiment echoing the enduring power of their music. “That people still want to hear us perform them live. We are going to go out and HONOUR the music.”
Bachman echoed the excitement, looking forward to revisiting the magic they created together. “Together we created decades of incredible songs and memories that still stand strong today. Can’t wait to sing them with you all soon!” he stated, hinting at the energy to come.
The story of The Guess Who began in 1965, quickly ascending to prominence with a string of chart-topping albums and singles. Songs like “American Woman,” “These Eyes,” and “No Time” became anthems, defining an era and captivating audiences on both sides of the border.
But the band’s history wasn’t without its complexities. Following Cummings’ departure in 1972, former bassist Jim Kale secured permission to use the name for a single performance, a permission that ultimately stretched into decades of performing with a different lineup and even trademarking the name.
For years, a separate iteration of The Guess Who toured, creating confusion and a legal impasse. This September, however, Cummings and Bachman announced a significant victory – they had regained control of The Guess Who name through an out-of-court settlement, paving the way for this momentous reunion.
The tour will also feature support from Don Felder, formerly of the Eagles, adding another layer of rock and roll pedigree to an already electrifying lineup. Dates span from coast to coast, culminating in a performance at the PNE in Vancouver on August 23rd.
The initial dates include stops in Niagara Falls, Fort Lauderdale (on the Rock Legends Cruise), and major Canadian cities like Toronto, Hamilton, Winnipeg, Calgary, and Edmonton. The anticipation is palpable, with the Niagara Falls show already sold out.
Adding to the honor, Cummings and Bachman were recently announced as nominees for the 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame, a testament to their lasting impact on music and songwriting. This tour isn’t just a performance; it’s a celebration of a legacy.
The journey promises a powerful reconnection with the music that shaped a generation, delivered by the original architects of its sound. It’s a chance to witness history in the making, a reunion decades in the making, and a tribute to the enduring power of rock and roll.
