A terrifying force is gripping Luzon as Typhoon Fung-Wong, known locally as Uwan, unleashes potentially devastating winds. The highest alert level remains in effect, signaling an immediate threat to life in several key regions.
The most intense winds, capable of causing catastrophic damage, are battering the western portions of Nueva Vizcaya and Mountain Province. This extreme danger extends to the southern reaches of Abra, the western slopes of Ifugao, the entirety of Benguet, and the central and southern sections of Ilocos Sur.
Expanding the zone of severe risk, Signal No. 3 now covers a wider area. This includes the western side of Isabela, the southern portion of Apayao, Kalinga, and the remainder of Ifugao and Abra. Residents in these locations should prepare for winds that pose a significant threat to their safety.
The typhoon’s reach continues to broaden, encompassing the northwestern portion of Quirino, the southern part of Ilocos Norte, and the rest of Ilocos Sur. Further areas under Signal No. 3 include the entirety of Pangasinan, the remainder of Nueva Vizcaya, and portions of Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, and Zambales.
More than a dozen additional areas are now under Signal No. 2, bracing for minor to moderate, yet still life-threatening, winds. This includes Cagayan and the Babuyan Islands, the rest of Isabela and Quirino, and Apayao, along with Ilocos Norte and Aurora.
The impact extends southward, encompassing the rest of Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, and Zambales. Pampanga, Bulacan, Bataan, and portions of Quezon, including the Polillo Islands, are also facing dangerous conditions.
Even Metro Manila and surrounding provinces – Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, and portions of Marinduque and Mindoro – are not immune, all under Signal No. 2. The western portion of Camarines Norte is also included in this heightened alert zone.
Signal No. 1, indicating minimal to minor life-threatening winds, has been raised across a vast expanse of Luzon. This includes Batanes, the northern portion of Palawan, and areas stretching south to Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and Albay.
The Visayas are also feeling the effects, with Signal No. 1 in effect over the northwestern portion of Northern Samar, and parts of Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, and Antique. The entire region remains on high alert as the typhoon continues its path.
