A terrifying ordeal unfolded in Waldorf, Maryland, as a woman faced a renewed attack by a man released from jail just hours before. James Bowman III, 40, allegedly returned to the victim’s home and committed another violent assault, shattering any sense of safety she might have hoped for.
The initial arrest occurred on November 7th, stemming from a brutal domestic dispute. Bowman was accused of punching the woman in the face and inflicting a bite wound to her hand, prompting officers to take him into custody.
Remarkably, Bowman was released from the Charles County Detention Center on his own recognizance – without having to pay bail. The single condition of his release was a directive not to abuse the woman he had already allegedly harmed.
That condition proved tragically insufficient. Within an hour of his release, authorities say Bowman brazenly returned to the victim’s residence, finding her with a young child in her arms. The situation escalated with terrifying speed.
The woman desperately attempted to protect herself and the toddler, managing to call 911 and barricade herself in a bedroom. But Bowman, fueled by rage, allegedly forced his way through the locked door, continuing the assault.
As she struggled to place the child safely on a bed, Bowman allegedly struck the toddler in the forehead, adding another layer of horror to the already harrowing scene. The entire second attack unfolded a mere six hours after the first accusation.
When deputies arrived, responding to the frantic 911 call placed around 12:52 a.m. on November 8th, they found the woman visibly injured and covered in blood. The scene painted a grim picture of violence and desperation.
Bowman now faces charges of assault and child abuse. Following the second, more brutal attack, a judge swiftly ordered him held without bond, recognizing the grave danger he posed.
