A terrifying Tuesday unfolded for a driver in Scarborough when their vehicle became the target of a brazen carjacking. The incident, occurring near Kennedy Rd. and Eglinton Ave. E., quickly escalated from a routine parking stop to a scene of armed threat.
According to police reports, the victim was approached by two individuals in a red vehicle. One of them brandished a handgun, immediately demanding the car keys. The demand was swift and forceful, leaving the victim with no choice but to comply.
The carjacker seized the keys and sped away in the stolen vehicle, while the red vehicle also vanished from the scene. The initial shock and fear for the victim were palpable as authorities launched an immediate investigation.
Fortunately, the swift response of Toronto Police – both uniformed and plainclothes officers from 42 Division – proved crucial. They quickly converged on the area and located not one, but three vehicles parked together, including the victim’s car and the suspect’s red vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers discovered four male suspects lingering near the vehicles. A careful observation led to their immediate apprehension, bringing a swift end to the unfolding drama. Evidence potentially linking the suspects to the carjacking was also recovered at the scene.
Those now facing charges include Deandre Robinson, 21, from Hamilton; Alyan Shahbaz, 22, from Milton; Senduran Suthaharan, 29, from Bradford; and Ravinder Muker, 40, also from Milton. Each now faces the consequences of their alleged actions.
It is important to note that all charges against Senduran Suthaharan were withdrawn on June 6, 2025. The investigation continues, and anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Holdup Unit.
