A suspect in the attack on the office of U.S. Attorney Alina Habba is now in custody, authorities announced Saturday. The FBI identified the suspect as Keith Michael Lisa, 51, and issued a federal warrant for his arrest on Thursday. He is accused of entering the Peter W. Rodino Federal Building in Newark, New Jersey, on November 12th, initially armed with a baseball bat.
Denied entry, Lisa allegedly discarded the bat before re-entering the building and proceeding directly to Habba’s office. Once inside, he reportedly damaged government property, escalating the situation into a serious breach of security.
The incident prompted a strong response from Attorney General Pam Bondi, who declared that no threats or acts of intimidation against U.S. Attorneys would be tolerated. Authorities described Lisa as approximately 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing between 200 and 230 pounds, warning that he should be considered dangerous. Investigators traced his connections to both New York City and Mahwah, New Jersey, aiding in the search.
