CHILDREN IN NEED BOSS: SCANDAL ERUPTS - JOB LOST AFTER SHOCKING CRASH!

CHILDREN IN NEED BOSS: SCANDAL ERUPTS - JOB LOST AFTER SHOCKING CRASH!

The horrifying moment a car struck a cyclist, sending her tumbling through the air, has come to light. The driver was Terry Duddy, recently appointed Chairman of Children in Need, just eleven days into his new role. The impact left the woman, in her fifties, with serious, life-altering injuries.

Footage released by Thames Valley Police reveals the stark reality of the collision. The cyclist clearly had the right of way at the junction in Chalfont St Giles when Duddy’s car collided with her. Police stated a simple lapse in attention – failing to properly check the road – resulted in devastating consequences.

Duddy confessed the incident to his superiors at the BBC earlier this week, immediately announcing his resignation. The BBC swiftly accepted, replacing him with James Fairclough, a trustee for Children in Need. The speed of the response underscores the gravity of the situation.

Beyond his role at the BBC, Duddy also chairs the welfare charity Catch22 and London Marathon Events. Catch22 has confirmed they were informed of his conviction and are now investigating the implications for his position within the organization. The fallout extends beyond a single institution.

Last Thursday, Duddy received an 18-month suspended sentence and was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work. This legal outcome reflects the seriousness of his negligence and the lasting harm inflicted upon the cyclist. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of cyclists on the road.

This incident arrives amidst a period of upheaval at the BBC. Earlier this month, the Director-General and Head of News both resigned following controversy surrounding the editing of a documentary. The organization faces continued scrutiny and a need for stability.

The latest figures reveal a troubling trend: in 2023, nearly four thousand cyclists suffered serious injuries on UK roads. This collision is not an isolated event, but part of a larger pattern of risk faced by those who choose to cycle. Another cyclist sustained minor injuries in a similar incident in the same location back in 2017.
