UMVA has learned that Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba has been in talks with Manchester United stars Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha about a potential move to Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old Baleba was on United's radar last summer, but the Red Devils ultimately ended their interest due to Brighton's hefty transfer demands, which exceeded £100 million. Despite that setback, Baleba remains a coveted target for United.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that Baleba's discussions with Fernandes and Cunha took place after Brighton's 3-0 defeat at home on the final day of the Premier League season. The young midfielder reportedly "made a beeline" for Cunha after the full-time whistle, and the pair spoke by the tunnel.
United's midfield has already been bolstered this summer with the £35m signing of Ederson from Atalanta, but the Red Devils are still on the hunt for an additional midfielder to shore up their squad.
Last season, Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler acknowledged that United's failed move to sign Baleba had an impact on the midfielder's performances. Hurzeler revealed that the interest from a top club like United can affect a young player's mentality, making it crucial for the coaching staff to help Baleba stay focused and humble.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that Baleba's potential move to United is still a possibility, with the Red Devils said to be keen on adding the talented youngster to their squad. Fernandes and Cunha's conversations with Baleba may have been an attempt to persuade him to join the team.
