ELITE FORCES DESCEND ON PUERTO RICO: A SECRET MISSION REVEALED?

ELITE FORCES DESCEND ON PUERTO RICO: A SECRET MISSION REVEALED?

The highest ranks of the U.S. military are returning to Puerto Rico, a strategic island hub, to directly thank the service members fueling critical operations throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. This visit, led by General Dan Caine and Sergeant Major David L. Isom, underscores the importance of the region to national security.

This isn’t a simple courtesy call. The trip arrives at a moment of escalating tension in the Caribbean Sea, as the U.S. significantly increases its naval presence near Venezuela. This expansion is a key component of a broader strategy to disrupt the flow of illicit drugs originating in Latin America.

The leaders’ previous visit in September, alongside Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, served as a powerful demonstration of support for troops training on the island. That earlier engagement at Muñiz Air Base brought together key military figures, including leaders from the Puerto Rico National Guard and Public Safety.

Hegseth, during the September visit, directly addressed nearly 300 soldiers, praising them as “American warriors” and pledging unwavering commitment to equipping them with the best resources in the world. The message was clear: their mission is vital, and their nation stands behind them.

The current surge in military activity is centered around “Operation Southern Spear,” a recently launched initiative designed to dismantle narco-terror networks across the Western Hemisphere. The operation’s stated goal is to protect the homeland by severing the supply lines fueling the drug crisis.

Since early September, U.S. forces have been aggressively targeting vessels linked to dangerous organizations like Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua and Colombia’s Ejército de Liberación Nacional. These operations have involved lethal force, resulting in the destruction of dozens of ships and a significant number of casualties.

The strikes haven’t been limited to conventional vessels. U.S. forces have engaged with submersibles, fishing boats, and high-speed crafts utilized by these criminal networks. The operations have been concentrated both near the Venezuelan coastline and in the eastern Pacific Ocean.

While the operations are intended to disrupt criminal activity, they haven’t been without controversy. A recent strike near Venezuela resulted in fatalities, drawing criticism from Colombia’s president and highlighting the delicate geopolitical landscape surrounding these missions.

The ongoing campaign represents a significant escalation in the U.S. response to the growing threat of narco-terrorism. The return visit by General Caine and Sergeant Major Isom reinforces the commitment to supporting the troops on the front lines of this critical struggle.

The stakes are high, and the message to the service members in Puerto Rico – and those operating throughout the region – is one of unwavering support and gratitude for their dedication to defending national interests.
