INFLUENCER'S WILD HUNT: WOMBAT KIDNAPPING SCANDAL EXPLODES!

The woman whose actions sparked international outrage after a disturbing encounter with a baby wombat in Australia now faces legal trouble of a different kind. Samantha Strable, known online as Sam Jones, has been arrested in Wyoming on allegations of hunting violations, a case entirely separate from the Australian incident.

Strable is accused of deliberately misrepresenting her residency to illegally obtain hunting licenses reserved for Wyoming residents. Court records indicate she falsely claimed to live in Pinedale, Wyoming, when evidence suggests her primary residence is actually in Great Falls, Montana.

The charges against her are significant: eight misdemeanor counts in total. These include six counts of false swearing, one count of taking wildlife without a license, and one count of nonresident hunting without a guide in a designated wilderness area. The accusations paint a picture of calculated deception to circumvent state hunting regulations.

The arrest unfolded on November 21st, with Strable being booked into a county jail in Sublette, Wyoming. The case was triggered by an anonymous tip received by Wyoming Game and Fish Warden Jacob Miller, alleging Strable continued to purchase resident hunting tags despite not meeting the residency requirements for over two years.

This isn’t the first time Strable has faced public condemnation. Earlier this year, shocking footage emerged of her grabbing a baby wombat joey from the roadside, separating it from its mother. The video showed the terrified animal and the frantic mother pursuing her, sparking fury across Australia.

In the video, Strable is heard proclaiming, “I caught a baby wombat,” while a companion laughs. The footage quickly went viral, prompting widespread criticism and even a rebuke from Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who challenged her to repeat the act with a more dangerous Australian animal like a crocodile.

Following the backlash, Strable offered a peculiar apology, claiming her actions stemmed from concern for the wombat’s welfare and accusing Australians of hypocrisy in their treatment of native animals. She also asserted that the public outcry had put her life in danger, framing herself as a victim.

Albanese dismissed her explanation, calling her behavior unacceptable. The incident fueled calls for her to be banned from returning to Australia, highlighting the deep offense caused by her actions. Strable subsequently deleted her social media accounts and largely disappeared from public view.

The arrest affidavit details that Strable began acquiring resident hunting licenses in 2022, utilizing the Pinedale address. Investigators discovered she had openly boasted about her deception to her substantial online following, numbering over 90,000.

If convicted on all charges, Strable faces the possibility of substantial fines and even jail time. She was released from custody on her own recognizance the same day she was booked, pending further legal proceedings. The case continues to unfold, adding another layer to a story already marked by controversy and public outrage.
