POKER WAR: Legend Denies Thanksgiving Beatdown!

POKER WAR: Legend Denies Thanksgiving Beatdown!

A shocking video surfaced, showing professional poker player Maurice Hawkins the target of a violent attack during a private game in Florida. The footage quickly spread across social media, sparking a flurry of speculation about what led to the altercation.

Hawkins vehemently denies any provocation, claiming he was blindsided by the assailant. He insists reports suggesting he was “running his mouth” about his boxing skills are false and a deliberate misrepresentation of the events.

The incident occurred in Palm Beach County, and an anonymous source initially suggested the attack stemmed from Hawkins’ boasts about his fighting ability. However, this claim remains unverified and is at the heart of the dispute.

Maurice Hawkins denies role in viral Thanksgiving poker altercation video. A poker player wearing sunglasses and a St. Louis Blues hoodie sits at a tournament table, reaching toward a stack of chips as other players sit nearby.

Hawkins is a highly decorated player in the poker world, boasting over 20 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit rings. He recently made history at Caesars New Orleans, surpassing Ari Engel to claim the record for the most rings won at a single event.

His recent victories included winning both the $600 Pot-Limit Omaha and $400 No-Limit Hold'em tournaments, solidifying his reputation as a formidable opponent and a dominant force in the WSOP Circuit. The WSOP itself acknowledged his “poker skills” as the foundation of his success.

Hawkins has publicly challenged the reporting of the incident, specifically targeting Chad Holloway and PokerNews. He alleges they are intentionally defaming his character and misrepresenting the facts to the public.

In a video response, Hawkins directly confronted Holloway, questioning the narrative presented and accusing him of targeting him unfairly. He threatened legal action, stating his intent to pursue a defamation suit.

This isn’t the first time Hawkins has faced public scrutiny. A previous financial dispute with a former backer, Randy Garcia, resurfaced in connection with the incident. Garcia had alleged Hawkins owed him a substantial six-figure sum.

A Florida court ultimately ruled in Garcia’s favor, awarding him over $115,000, including interest and fees. Hawkins stated at the time he was working to resolve the debt “amicably” and making consistent payments.

Allegations regarding the debt resurfaced in 2022, prompting Hawkins to reiterate his commitment to repayment, claiming he had already settled a significant portion of the amount owed. The history of this financial conflict adds another layer to the current controversy.

The situation remains tense, with Hawkins determined to clear his name and address what he perceives as a deliberate attempt to damage his reputation. The video of the attack continues to circulate, fueling debate and speculation within the poker community.
