The island is still healing, rebuilding after the devastating typhoons of recent years. Yet, a resilient spirit thrives. Councilor Bingle Silvosa spoke of a hopeful future, a return to strength, not just for Siargao, but for the Philippines as a whole. While surfing isn’t the sole identity of Siargao, its allure is undeniable. Cloud 9, the island’s surfing epicenter, pulsates with energy. The iconic wooden boardwalk provides stunning sunset views, while nearby cafes buzz with a lively island vibe. Pacifico Beach, a quieter alternative, offers gentler waves and a more relaxed atmosphere.
A journey up the Maasin River unveiled a hidden sanctuary. Lush mangroves lined the calm waters, creating a peaceful haven. A gentle boat ride, punctuated only by the sounds of nature, offered a moment of pure serenity, a chance to escape the bustle and reconnect with the island’s soul.
Unexpectedly, a new attraction emerged from the coconut groves: Coconut Combut, Siargao’s first paintball and gel blaster arena. Created by a German expat who fell in love with the island, it’s a testament to the community spirit, a place for locals and visitors alike to have fun and connect.
