ISSA ABANDONS CALIFORNIA?! Political Earthquake Rocks 2026 Race!

A political earthquake is rumbling across state lines, and veteran Congressman Darrell Issa may be at its epicenter. Facing a dramatically altered political landscape in California, Issa is now seriously considering a run for Congress… in Texas. The shift comes as both states grapple with contentious redistricting battles that threaten to reshape the balance of power in Washington.

California’s newly redrawn maps, approved by voters last month, have significantly weakened Issa’s position. What was once a comfortably Republican district – carried by Donald Trump by a substantial 15-point margin – has been transformed. Analysis now suggests that Vice President Kamala Harris would have won the same territory by 3 points, a stark reversal of fortune.

The opportunity in Texas arose unexpectedly, according to sources. Issa wasn’t actively seeking a new district, but was approached by allies in Texas who urged him to challenge Democratic Representative Julie Johnson in the state’s 32nd Congressional District. This district became vulnerable after Texas Republicans aggressively redrew their maps.

That Texas redistricting effort, however, is now under intense legal scrutiny. A federal panel blocked the state from using the new map, accusing it of being “racially gerrymandered.” The ruling ignited a firestorm of protest from Republicans, who decry it as a blatant double standard.

California didn’t stand idly by. Governor Gavin Newsom championed a ballot measure designed to counteract the potential gains Republicans hoped to achieve through redistricting. But California’s move has also drawn legal challenges, with the Trump administration alleging that race was improperly used to create districts favorable to Democrats.

The escalating conflict isn’t limited to Texas and California. Lawmakers in Indiana, North Carolina, Missouri, Maryland, Utah, and Virginia are now exploring or actively pursuing map changes of their own. The stakes are incredibly high, as Republicans cling to a razor-thin majority in the House of Representatives.

The fight is about more than just maps; it’s a desperate scramble for control. As one prominent voice put it, “We must keep the Majority at all costs.” The Supreme Court is expected to rule on the Texas redistricting imminently, a decision that will have profound implications for the upcoming midterm elections and the future of Congress.

The entire process remains shrouded in uncertainty. Legal challenges could overturn the new maps entirely, leaving the political landscape in flux. For Darrell Issa, and for countless other lawmakers, the path forward is anything but clear, caught in the crosscurrents of a national political war.
