BIDEN'S AFGHANISTAN NIGHTMARE: Justice Coming for Fallen Heroes!

BIDEN'S AFGHANISTAN NIGHTMARE: Justice Coming for Fallen Heroes!

The weight of a nation’s grief settled heavily on Thanksgiving Day. Just hours before families gathered, Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, only 20 years old, succumbed to injuries sustained in an ambush near the White House. The attacker? An Afghan national who entered the country amidst the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Air Force Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe remains in critical condition, a stark reminder of the violence that unfolded. The shooter, identified as 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, arrived in the United States under Operation Allies Welcome in 2021, a program initiated following the abrupt departure from Kabul.

The tragedy has ignited renewed scrutiny of the withdrawal itself, a period now under investigation by the Department of War. Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson announced this week that a comprehensive report isn’t expected until the summer of 2026 – nearly five years after thirteen American service members lost their lives during the final days of the conflict.

That delay feels agonizingly slow to many, especially considering the circumstances surrounding the evacuation. Thousands of Afghan nationals were flown into the country with limited vetting, a decision now under intense examination. The investigation, led by Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell, an Afghan veteran, aims to deliver a fully unredacted report to the American public.

The withdrawal wasn’t simply a logistical failure; it was a descent into chaos. Reports surfaced of hundreds of ISIS militants encircling Kabul airport, creating a volatile and deadly environment. Suicide bombings ripped through the crowds of desperate Afghans attempting to flee, claiming the lives of 13 U.S. service members and 170 civilians.

Even more unsettling, intelligence suggests that key military leaders – Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Joint Chiefs Chairman Mark Milley, and CentCom Commander General Kenneth McKenzie – were aware of a credible threat to Abbey Gate hours before the attack. The knowledge that lives were knowingly put at risk adds another layer of anguish to the unfolding story.

Beyond the human cost, the withdrawal left behind a staggering amount of U.S. military equipment. An estimated $85 billion worth of weaponry, including Black Hawk helicopters, fell into the hands of the Taliban, fundamentally altering the balance of power in the region.

A memo from War Secretary Pete Hegseth underscores the gravity of the situation, stating the Department of Defense has “an obligation…to get to the facts.” The goal, he insists, is to ensure “ACCOUNTABILITY to the American people and the warfighters of our great Nation.” But for the families of those lost and wounded, accountability feels distant, overshadowed by grief and the long wait for answers.
