NYU ATTACKER: 16 ARRESTS & STILL ON THE STREET?!

A 20-year-old New York University student was violently attacked on a Manhattan street, leaving her shaken and sparking outrage. The assault occurred Monday morning as she walked to class, blindsided by a stranger who inflicted a brutal, unprovoked attack.

The assailant, identified as 45-year-old James Rizzo, allegedly approached the student from behind, immediately slapping her head and buttocks before violently pulling her hair and throwing her to the ground. Surveillance footage and a video posted by the victim herself captured the shocking moment, quickly circulating online and fueling public anger.

The victim, Amelia Lewis, bravely shared her experience on social media, detailing the terrifying ordeal and expressing her disbelief. She described the attacker as a tall man with long brown hair and a beard, wearing gray sweatpants and a black jacket, emphasizing the fear she felt simply walking to class.

Rizzo was apprehended by the New York City Police Department and now faces charges including persistent sexual abuse, forcible touching, and assault. His arrest, however, reveals a disturbing pattern of behavior and a history of encounters with the law.

Police records indicate Rizzo has been arrested 16 prior times, with offenses ranging from sexual abuse and repeated assaults on women to burglary. He was even previously arrested in connection with a 1997 murder, though no conviction was ever recorded.

Adding to the gravity of the situation, Rizzo was on active parole at the time of the attack, having recently been released after serving a two-year sentence for persistent sexual abuse. This fact has intensified calls for accountability and raised serious questions about public safety.

Following the attack, NYU officials stated they are offering support to the student and collaborated with police during the investigation. The university emphasized the seriousness of the incident and their commitment to student safety.

Lewis, still visibly shaken, voiced her frustration and anger, stating that students should not live in fear while simply trying to pursue their education. She passionately urged people to consider the implications of their political choices, arguing that the city needs significant help to address this escalating problem.

The incident has ignited a broader conversation about safety in New York City and the need for effective measures to protect vulnerable individuals. Lewis’s courage in sharing her story has resonated deeply, prompting a demand for change and a renewed focus on preventing such attacks.
