A significant shift is coming for those who dedicate their lives to protecting the nation. President Marcos Jr. has announced a multi-year plan to substantially increase the base pay for all military and uniformed personnel, beginning in January 2026.
The increase will encompass a broad spectrum of dedicated individuals. Those serving within the Department of National Defense, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Philippine Coast Guard, the Bureau of Corrections, and the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority will all benefit from this adjustment.
The implementation won’t be immediate, but rather a carefully phased approach. Pay increases will be rolled out in three stages, taking effect on January 1st of 2026, 2027, and 2028, ensuring a gradual but impactful improvement in compensation.
Beyond base pay, a vital boost to daily sustenance is also planned. Starting January 1, 2026, all military and uniformed personnel will see their subsistence allowance rise to P350 per day, acknowledging the physical demands of their service.
This decision isn’t simply about numbers; it’s a recognition of unwavering commitment. The administration views these measures as a fundamental step in ensuring those who safeguard the country receive just compensation and robust government backing.
The past year has been particularly demanding for these personnel. They’ve been at the forefront of responding to a relentless series of natural disasters – devastating typhoons, powerful earthquakes, erupting volcanoes, and widespread flooding – demonstrating extraordinary resilience.
Their role extends far beyond disaster relief, however. Maintaining public safety in the face of ongoing security challenges is a constant, critical responsibility they shoulder with dedication and bravery.
“Our military and uniformed personnel answer the call of duty regardless of the risks to their own safety,” the President stated, his words echoing the nation’s gratitude. “On land, at sea, or in the air, they do not hesitate to sacrifice for the welfare of every Filipino.”
