BRAMPTON NIGHTMARE: Drugs, Death & a Manhunt!

BRAMPTON NIGHTMARE: Drugs, Death & a Manhunt!

A shadow fell over Peel Region last month as authorities moved against a network allegedly trafficking dangerous drugs and illegal firearms. The investigation culminated in a pair of raids on November 25th, revealing a hidden world of illicit activity.

At one residence, investigators uncovered a chilling arsenal: two loaded handguns, alongside a disturbing array of narcotics. Cocaine, Xanax, heroin, crystal meth, opium, psilocybin, and oxycodone were seized, painting a grim picture of the scale of the operation. A cocaine press and scales indicated a sophisticated, organized effort.

Ishpaul Biryah, 23, of Brampton, now faces sixteen charges, including possession of altered firearms and multiple counts of drug trafficking. Dilpreet Sekhon, 30, also from Brampton, is charged with possession of proceeds of crime and trafficking.

However, the investigation isn’t complete. Gurjit Gill, 29, remains at large, wanted on twenty charges, mirroring those faced by Biryah, and including dangerous operation. He is described as 5-foot-8, with a thin build, straight black hair, and brown eyes.

The search for Gill continues as investigators piece together the full extent of the network’s reach. Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

In a separate, tragic incident, Scarborough’s Malvern neighbourhood was marked by a fatal collision on November 5th. A grey Ford F350 pickup truck, traveling northbound on Markham Road, lost control just south of Finch Avenue East.

The impact proved devastating. A 34-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 47-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized.

Hariharan Navaratnam, the driver, has now been charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death, bringing a measure of accountability to a heartbreaking loss.

These investigations highlight the ongoing efforts to combat both the flow of illegal drugs and firearms, and the devastating consequences of reckless driving within the city.
