Two migrant boys raped 15-year-old girl months after arriving in UK on small boats

The evening shattered a young life, irrevocably altered by the calculated cruelty of two individuals. Jan Jahanzeb and Israr Niazal, friends who betrayed all trust, led a terrified teenage girl away from her companions, initiating a horrific sequence of events that would haunt her forever.

Warwick Crown Court heard how the pair deliberately steered the girl towards a secluded, hidden area within Newbold Comyn park – a place normally filled with families and the carefree sounds of life. Instead, it became a site of unimaginable violation, a “den-type” space where her desperate pleas were ignored.

The judge, Sylvia de Bertodano, delivered a scathing condemnation of their actions, emphasizing the victim’s clear and forceful resistance. She stated unequivocally that the footage left no room for doubt: consent was never present, and the youths were fully aware of the gravity of their crime.

The court learned the girl fought back, making “vigorous protests” as she was forcibly taken from her friends. This wasn’t a moment of misjudgment; it was a deliberate act of predation, a calculated removal of a vulnerable individual to a place where their actions would go unseen.

Judge de Bertodano directly addressed Jahanzeb and Niazal, stating their actions had fundamentally changed the victim’s life. She underscored the profound and lasting damage inflicted, a trauma no child should ever endure.

The prosecution highlighted the deliberate and harmful nature of the defendants’ choices, emphasizing their targeting of a young, vulnerable victim. Rape, they argued, leaves deep and enduring emotional and psychological scars, impacting not only the survivor but also their entire family.

Evidence presented, including recordings and the victim’s courageous testimony, left no question as to the defendants’ responsibility for the immense suffering caused. The Crown Prosecution Service reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to pursuing justice in sexual assault cases.

Jahanzeb, already facing deportation, received a youth detention term of ten years and eight months. Niazal was sentenced to nine years and ten months. Both had previously admitted to the crime of rape in a Coventry youth court hearing.

The sentences, while offering a measure of accountability, cannot erase the trauma inflicted. The case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of sexual violence and the importance of protecting the most vulnerable members of society.
