Former Trump administration border official Tom Homan revealed he recently requested the immigration records of Representative Ilhan Omar, responding to long-standing allegations of immigration fraud.
The inquiry centers around claims that Omar married her brother, a move reportedly intended to facilitate his residency in the United States. These accusations first surfaced years ago, and have remained a point of contention.
During a recent interview, Homan stated he consulted with a seasoned fraud investigator within Homeland Security Investigations, who expressed strong conviction regarding the evidence of potential wrongdoing in Omar’s case.
Homan explained that the statute of limitations presented a challenge during the previous administration, but that he is now actively pursuing a review of the relevant files. He intends to determine the validity of the fraud claims.
The allegations originally came to light through accounts from individuals within the Minneapolis Somali community, who described Omar’s stated intention to help her brother obtain legal status.
One individual, Abdihakim Osman, came forward to detail how Omar confided in friends about her plan, a plan that ultimately involved a marriage to her brother while still legally married to another man.
The marriage itself was reportedly kept secret until a marriage certificate surfaced publicly, raising questions and sparking the initial wave of scrutiny.
