The dream of a new auto job in Windsor feels increasingly out of reach for those outside the Stellantis network. A massive hiring push for 1,500 positions at the revitalized Windsor Assembly Plant is nearing completion, and it’s happening almost entirely through internal channels.
After successfully onboarding over 1,000 employees through internal transfers and referrals, Stellantis now anticipates filling all remaining roles without ever opening applications to the general public. This leaves many hopeful applicants on the outside looking in.
The surge in hiring is largely fueled by workers from the Brampton Assembly Plant, facing uncertainty as production shifts south of the border. Roughly 240 Brampton employees have already chosen to transfer to Windsor, securing their futures within the company.
Stellantis was obligated by contract to prioritize Brampton workers impacted by the production changes. The company announced in October that Jeep Compass production would move to Belvidere, Illinois, a decision that prompted the need for these internal shifts.
Adding to the internal focus, Stellantis implemented a referral program allowing current employees to nominate individuals for positions. This further streamlined the hiring process and accelerated the company’s progress toward its goal.
The reinstatement of the third shift at the Windsor plant marks a significant milestone for Stellantis, driven by anticipated demand for its exciting new muscle car lineup. The first 2026 Dodge Charger Scat Packs have already begun rolling off the assembly line.
Windsor Assembly Plant isn’t solely focused on high-performance vehicles; it also continues production of the Chrysler Pacifica, Voyager, and Grand Caravan minivans, maintaining a diverse manufacturing portfolio.
This rapid expansion isn’t just about numbers; it’s a statement about Canada’s continued importance to Stellantis’ global strategy. The company boasts a century-long history of vehicle assembly in Canada, with over 25 million vehicles produced to date.
Looking ahead, production of the SIXPACK-powered Dodge Charger R/T and four-door SIXPACK models is slated to begin in the first quarter of 2026. The Windsor plant is poised to play a crucial role in Stellantis’ future of advanced automotive production.
For those already within the Stellantis family, the opportunity to contribute to this new era of muscle car manufacturing is a welcome one. The Windsor Assembly Plant team is quickly establishing itself as a driving force in the company’s success.
