GUAM OR BUST: PAL Just UNLOCKED Direct Flights!

GUAM OR BUST: PAL Just UNLOCKED Direct Flights!

A new gateway to the Pacific has opened, as Philippine Airlines launched direct flights connecting Cebu to Guam. This marks the first nonstop service from Central Visayas to the Western Pacific Islands, promising a simpler journey for travelers and a boost for regional connectivity.

The Cebu-Guam route, initiated on December 16th, operates three times a week – Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays – with return flights departing Guam on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. PAL is utilizing its Airbus A321ceo aircraft to service this exciting new expansion.

This expansion doesn’t stop at Guam. Philippine Airlines is also poised to reinstate service to Saipan in March, adding another vital link in its growing Pacific network. The revival of this route will offer twice-weekly departures, further solidifying PAL’s presence in the region.

Saipan, a US territory, will become the airline’s seventh US destination, joining a prestigious roster including Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Guam, and Honolulu. This strategic addition complements existing routes to Guam, Honolulu, and Palau, all accessible via Cebu.

The airline previously offered seasonal flights to Saipan in 2016, demonstrating a clear understanding of the demand for this connection. This renewed commitment signals a long-term vision for serving travelers between the Philippines and the US territories.

These network expansions coincide with a period of strong financial performance for Philippine Airlines. Recent reports indicate a significant 33.58% increase in attributable net income, reaching P9.03 billion.

This impressive growth is largely attributed to a surge in passenger revenues, climbing to P116.56 billion. Cargo and ancillary services also contributed substantially, generating P6.71 billion and P12.67 billion respectively.

Overall, total revenues for the nine-month period rose by 2.68% to P136.01 billion, while gross expenses saw a moderate increase of 3.96% to P124.85 billion. These figures paint a picture of a thriving airline poised for continued success.
