Windows is STEALING Your PC's Power! Fix It NOW.

Windows is STEALING Your PC's Power! Fix It NOW.

Hidden within the familiar interface of Windows 10 and 11 lies a feature intended to streamline updates, but which can ironically bog down your system. Called Delivery Optimization, it promises efficiency, yet often delivers the opposite – a silent drain on precious system memory.

The core idea behind Delivery Optimization is clever: share the load of downloading updates and apps across multiple devices. This reduces bandwidth usage, especially in larger networks. However, the execution hasn’t quite lived up to the promise.

Reports began surfacing online, initially from a user noted by a tech publication, describing the feature as a memory hog. The complaint was stark: Delivery Optimization would consume vast amounts of RAM, seemingly without purpose.

A Reddit user, Niff_Naff, decided to investigate. Their tests confirmed the initial concerns, revealing that the service could indeed accumulate significant memory usage over time, impacting overall system performance.

The problem isn’t necessarily a flaw in the concept, but rather in the implementation. Delivery Optimization, in its attempt to optimize, can become a resource-intensive process itself, negating any potential benefits.

Fortunately, reclaiming that lost memory is surprisingly simple. Within Windows Settings, navigate to the Windows Update section, then select Delivery Optimization. A single unchecked box – “Allow downloads from other computers” – is all it takes to disable the feature.

By disabling Delivery Optimization, you’re not sacrificing updates; you’re simply opting out of the peer-to-peer sharing system. This allows your computer to download updates directly from Microsoft, potentially freeing up valuable system resources for the tasks that truly matter.

Reclaiming that memory can translate to a smoother, more responsive experience, especially on systems with limited RAM. It’s a small change with the potential to make a noticeable difference in your computer’s overall performance.
