SAN FRANCISCO MELTDOWN: 100,000+ Left in DARKNESS as Tech FAILS!

SAN FRANCISCO MELTDOWN: 100,000+ Left in DARKNESS as Tech FAILS!

A sudden, sweeping darkness descended upon San Francisco on Saturday, silencing the city and leaving over 100,000 residents without power. The outage wasn't a gradual dimming, but an abrupt plunge into night, transforming familiar streets into shadowy labyrinths.

The initial reports spoke of a localized issue, beginning on the northern edge of the city. But the darkness quickly spread, engulfing neighborhoods and disrupting life for a vast portion of the population. Within hours, the number of affected residents climbed to a staggering 130,000.

At the heart of the crisis, a fire erupted within a PG&E substation near 8th and Mission streets. Firefighters battled the blaze while investigators began the complex task of determining the full extent of the damage and the root cause of the incident. Other contributing factors remain under investigation.

The blackout’s impact extended far beyond darkened homes and businesses. The city’s burgeoning fleet of self-driving vehicles, reliant on complex sensor networks and functioning traffic signals, were rendered helpless. Cars stalled mid-street, creating chaotic bottlenecks and snarling traffic across the city.

Public transportation systems also buckled under the strain. BART trains were forced to bypass key downtown stations, leaving commuters stranded and scrambling for alternative routes. The city’s intricate network of transit ground to a frustrating halt.

Images quickly surfaced, painting a stark picture of the unfolding chaos. Passengers found themselves trapped inside motionless Waymo vehicles, while darkened intersections became emblems of the city’s vulnerability. The scenes were a jarring reminder of how deeply modern life relies on a constant flow of electricity.

Waymo, the autonomous vehicle company, swiftly responded by temporarily suspending its ride-hailing services. They emphasized their commitment to working with city officials to assess the stability of the infrastructure and restore operations as quickly as possible.

As hours passed, crews worked tirelessly to restore power. Slowly, incrementally, the lights began to flicker back on for some residents. By the latest reports, service had been successfully restored to approximately 95,000 customers, though a significant 35,000 remained in the dark.

The outage served as a potent reminder of the fragility of urban infrastructure and the cascading effects of a single point of failure. It was a night San Francisco won’t soon forget, a night where the city was forced to confront its dependence on the unseen currents that power modern life.
