David Walliams, the beloved author and comedian, is no longer affiliated with The Children’s Trust, a charity he publicly championed since 2018. The organization confirmed the end of their ambassadorial relationship earlier this year, marking a significant shift for both parties.
Walliams had previously expressed genuine enthusiasm for the charity, describing a “warm, caring atmosphere” and praising the dedication of its staff. He spoke of feeling “proud” to be involved with The Children’s Trust and its “incredibly inspiring young people,” a sentiment shared when he first took on the role.
This change follows a series of developments stemming from allegations of inappropriate behavior towards junior female colleagues. His publisher, HarperCollins, has also severed ties with the author, a decision they stated was made with employee wellbeing as a top priority.
A spokesperson for Walliams vehemently denies the allegations, stating he was never informed of any concerns raised by HarperCollins and was given no opportunity to respond. He is currently seeking legal counsel regarding the matter.
The fallout extends beyond publishing and charitable work. A planned appearance at the Waterstones children’s book festival in 2026 has been cancelled, and the BBC has addressed concerns surrounding upcoming content featuring Walliams.
Despite controversy surrounding a filmed segment featuring Nazi salutes – deemed “completely unacceptable” by both the BBC and the production company – a previously recorded Christmas special of *Would I Lie To You* is still scheduled to air. The segment itself will not be broadcast.
CBBC, however, continued to air adaptations of Walliams’ popular novels, *Mr Stink* and *The Boy in the Dress*, over the weekend. These broadcasts occurred amidst the growing scrutiny of his conduct.
Reports suggest a former employee who voiced concerns about Walliams received a substantial financial settlement and subsequently left the company. This detail adds another layer to the unfolding situation and the questions surrounding the handling of these allegations.
