Indigo Under SIEGE: Antisemitism EXPLODES in Canada!

A chilling scene unfolded at an Indigo bookstore in Toronto: windows and the front door smeared with red paint, a grotesque imitation of a slaughter. This wasn't random vandalism; it was a targeted attack, fueled by hatred and directed at a business owned by Jewish individuals who support Jewish charities.

The incident, occurring on a busy Saturday during the holiday season, is part of a disturbing pattern. Indigo locations across Canada have been repeatedly targeted, harassed, and even occupied, yet the justice system appears hesitant to intervene decisively. Recent arrests related to similar incidents following October 7th, 2023, have largely resulted in withdrawn charges.

Two days passed after the latest attack with no charges announced, and a conspicuous silence from political leaders. This silence speaks volumes, especially considering the swift condemnation that would follow similar attacks against other faith communities. It raises a terrifying question: is antisemitism now tolerated, even expected?

The lack of support from the justice system emboldens those who harbor hate. They feel free to act with impunity, targeting Jewish businesses and individuals whenever and however they choose. This isn’t simply about disagreement with Israeli policy; it’s a dangerous escalation of animosity.

Police sources reveal a frustrating reality: they are making arrests, but prosecutions are being quietly shut down by unnamed officials within the justice system. Officers feel undermined, their hands tied by bureaucrats and a media landscape that often seems to overlook the specific targeting of the Jewish community.

The situation is further complicated by the presence of extremist groups – some linked to Hamas, Antifa, and communist movements – who appear to operate with a disturbing level of freedom. They dictate the terms, deciding when and where to disrupt and intimidate.

The question isn’t whether laws are being broken at these protests; it’s whether those laws will be enforced. A disturbing unofficial policy seems to have taken hold, allowing aggressive attacks on Jewish people and businesses to continue unchecked. Even recent events – a deadly attack during Hanukkah abroad and a thwarted terror plot locally – haven’t prompted a change.

Former Alberta Premier Jason Kenney didn’t mince words, calling the actions of protesters at an Indigo in Montreal “thuggish” and a violation of multiple laws. He likened the situation to “Canada’s own Kristallnacht,” a chilling reference to the Nazi pogroms against Jews in Germany.

Kenney pointed to specific sections of the Criminal Code that could be applied, but ultimately, he argued, it will take more than police action. It requires leadership from the Prime Minister, premiers, and mayors – a willingness to prioritize safety over political expediency and allow law enforcement to do its job.

Officers are reportedly exhausted, tired of acting as “babysitters” to disruptions that escalate into terrorizing behavior. They want to enforce the law, to protect the Jewish community from threats that range from hateful rhetoric to violence and theft. But they need the support to do so.

Ignoring the problem won’t make it disappear. Pretending it’s not happening only allows the hatred to fester. Canada has a choice: enforce existing laws and stand up to antisemitism, or continue down a dangerous path where terrorizing the Jewish community becomes a normalized “sport.”

The faces behind the disruptions are becoming known, revealing individuals with a long history of involvement in various protest movements. Their actions, often overseen by others, are designed to be disruptive and intimidating, operating under the guise of activism.
